Yesterday we had a little fun talking about what HR is not. I'm not your hall monitor, concierge, therapist, or minute-taker!
Today let's talk about what HR *is*. Tell me, in your own words: how do you see your role/function/job? Don't give me a textbook or classroom answer, use your gut, tell me from your heart! Why do you do what you do? What drives you? What's the job all about?

HR Barb from twitter says: In my opinion HR's main goal is to manage the dynamics of human capital and let them think it is their idea to do what you want.
HR is an ethical radar and not in general terms. What I mean is that years of handling Employee Relations issues and of hiring top talent gives us the advantage of seeing beyond the qualifications, skills and experience of a candidate. That gut instinct is second to none. Nearly 100% of the time I don't recommend someone for hire, very soon after we discover a concrete ethical reason why the individual is not a fit.
HR is 'and.'
HR is 'both.'
HR is both the forest and the trees.
